We have advised the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) on its groundbreaking first digitally native note issuance via Euroclear's D-FMI platform. This $300 million issuance, arranged by Citi and BMO Capital Markets, is a significant milestone - marking Euroclear's first U.S. dollar digital note and the first time an Asia-based issuer has utilized this innovative platform. This represents one of several recent digital issuances on which we have advised, including the first Eurozone sovereign digital bond issuance and the inaugural Italian law digital bond issuance both in July 2024, among others. Our cross-border team advising on the transaction was led by London-based partner Matt Fairclough and Paris-based counsel Alexander Tollast with support from associate Amy Hillier and trainee Hannah M., also based in London. We've advised HSBC on a groundbreaking US$225m Amazon reforestation-linked bond – the largest outcome bond ever issued by the International Bank For Reconstruction & Development (The World Bank Group).    This bond, with interest tied to issuance of carbon removal units (CRUs) by Amazon reforestation projects managed by MOMBAK and sold to Microsoft, is the latest, and largest, example of the capital markets being used to mobilise private sector funding to finance projects generating carbon credits.   Our team was led by Deborah Zandstra and James Kelton and were assisted by associate Teninlanimi Owolabi and trainee Elle Jackson in the Debt Capital Markets Group in London. On the 8th August, The Clifford Chance UK REACH network hosted Eshita Kabra (Founder and CEO of ByRotation) and Dhruva Balram (Co-Founder of Dialled In) as panelists at our South Asian Heritage Month flagship event. South Asian Heritage Month, running from 18th July to 17th August, is a time to celebrate the rich cultural tapestry and significant contributions of South Asian communities. It provides an opportunity to reflect on the diverse histories, traditions, and achievements that have shaped our society. As trailblazers in the South Asian community, Eshita and Dhruva discussed the challenges they faced branching away from more traditional career paths, the companies they modelled their journeys on, their visions for representation in their industries and the theme of this years South Asian Heritage Month "Free to be Me".
