Today marks a special milestone in our culinary journey with Chef Theo Michaels, as we reached the halfway point at Old Norse Lodge. Residents enjoyed a taste of Thailand with a delicious menu featuring Thai Prawn Cakes, Thai Green Curry, and Thai Banana Pancakes. But the experience didn’t stop with the meal! The activities team at Old Norse Lodge crafted an immersive Thai-themed afternoon, filled with cultural activities that brought the spirit of Thailand to life. From traditional Thai music to interactive games, it was a day of learning, laughter, and enjoyment for all. All of our residents were in such high spirits after the day it was clear they thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Following our exciting Danforth torch run, all of our care homes also held a Sports Day for residents, allowing them to compete in their very own Olympics! The games were made accessible for all, with standout events like noodle horse racing, inflatable axe throwing, and a fun round of Hungry Hippos. Some homes even opened their Sports Day to the community, making it a huge success. It was wonderful to see residents out in the gardens, enjoying the sunshine and partaking in some friendly competition. Winners were awarded medals, adding an extra touch of excitement and pride to the day. It was a lovely day had by all, and we continue to keep the Olympic spirit alive by supporting our Olympians through the TV. Starting from our most northern home, we had residents and staff from all across the country participate in this heartwarming relay. Each home proudly carried the torch. The torch traveled through the hands of our wonderful residents and dedicated staff, making its way down the country and finishing at our most southern home, bringing us as close to Paris as we could get! This journey represents the shared spirit and community within Danforth Care Homes, connecting us all through the excitement of the Olympics. We are thrilled to announce that Arkall Manor in Tamworth will be hosting the National Association Of Care Catering (NACC) Executive board members for their quarterly meeting! Attendees will enjoy the full resident experience at Arkall Manor, participating in various activities organised through our OOMPH Wellness and Activities software, and savouring the exquisite cuisine prepared by our talented chefs in our fully equipped kitchen. This will be the first time for the NACC to host a Board meeting in a Care Home, where they will all have opportunity to experience 24 hours in the life of a resident, including sleep. Both chefs cooked up some fantastic dishes and we are immensely proud of them. A huge congratulations to Louise, who was named a National Finalist and will go on to represent Danforth Care Homes and Rossendale House in October! We are so excited to kick off Care Home Open Week on Monday, and we can’t wait to showcase all 15 of our luxury care homes! From Monday to Sunday, all of our homes will have their doors open for anyone interested in experiencing the exceptional care and community we offer. Throughout the week, we have a range of exciting activities planned! Each home will showcase every department that ensures the smooth running of the home from catering to housekeeping. Each home will hold Q&A sessions with our general managers and care managers, great for anyone conisdering care in the near future and wishes to have any of their questions answered directly!  There will also be garden parties for residents and visitors to enjoy over the weekend, with the lovely weather beaming down we will be lighting up the BBQ in our gardens and showcasing the amazing talent among our catering teams. We will close out the week launching our new initiative, "Spare Chair Sunday" where we invite anyone over 65 in the local community to join us for Sunday lunch and help combat loneliness.
