Excited to announce our partnership with Versuni to create sustainable packaging for their Philips Baristina coffee machine. The concept was expertly designed by the experienced teams at DS Smith and Versuni to create a captivating ‘unboxing’ experience. The coffee machine is elegantly presented at the centre, allowing consumers to immediately connect with the bold visuals and captivating artwork when browsing in-store or online. Our designers used the Circular Design Metrics (CDM) tool to measure the overall sustainability performance of the packaging solution for the coffee machine. Find out more: https://ow.ly/P8PN50SYB8U

Resilience in collaborative, customer-focused innovation is how we make the impossible possible. DS Smith Lift Up, our 100% recyclable alternative to plastic shrink wrap for PET bottles, removed 200 tonnes of plastic from the launch market in the first year. This innovation was a three-way collaboration with our customer and mechanisation collaborator, fuelled by iteration, inspiration and a no-quit attitude. Working together, we rose to the challenge and took our solution from concept to shelf within four years. We are committed to preserving and regenerating nature by responsibly sourcing materials, managing forests and operations sustainably, and reducing water usage. Our targets for 2025 include improving biodiversity in our forests, implementing biodiversity programs in our paper mills, and having water management plans at all our paper mills and packaging sites. As part of their Biodiversity Programme, our Duenas paper mill recently supported biodiversity and landscape recovery in the local community through planting trees that are native to the area. The project aims to preserve and enhance the surroundings of the Ermita de la Virgen de Onecha church, a historical building located just across the river from the mill. The project included weeding and maintaining the large trees of poplars, mulberry, juniper and pine, and cleaning the pond. The landscape design and tree species were chosen specifically to ensure minimum future maintenance, and to improve habitats for local wildlife. Find out more about how we preserve and regenerate nature in our Sustainability Report 2024. https://ow.ly/9Asm50SAlfM
