Great to be able to announce the next business to come through initial compliance and become a full corporate Fire Aware member! RTJ of Sussex Ltd had some excellent feedback given by some of their clients, and what was very evident was that those clients were businesses that really did take the safety of their residents - in one case animals - seriously. In using Roy Smith and his team to deliver their fire safety services they were given a truly responsible work ethic and a supplier with only their best interests at heart. We welcome RTJ into full corporate membership of Fire Aware where they stand proudly amongst other businesses who, while providing a variety of different services, all do so with one commonality - the avoidance of the race to the bottom and respect for the safety of the end user. 6000 followers!!! Thank you so much in the interest you have taken in Fire Aware - its quite the ride, but with the support of professionals like yourselves it is a hugely encouraging journey and one that is far from being done! As ever, when we add another 1000 followers, we like to post the below video which can be accessed and downloaded by anyone who may find it useful. It was designed, and is being used, as a short induction film for those going out on site who are in some way installing fire safety equipment - even if they don't know it!! It wakes up the thought process of those who see it, to realise that if they act irresponsibly in the delivery of their services there could be significant consequences for innocent people on the receiving end. Even if its not entirely relevant, please show this to your staff, and let them appreciate how important it is to behave responsibly in a sector that carries such a massive duty of care. If this short animation makes just one site operative ask a question, and in doing so improves a situation that otherwise could lead to a disaster, then its well worth the effort. This is great to see and thank you to all at Diamond Systems for undertaking this process and supporting what Fire Aware has set out to achieve. The below is tangible cultural change. This is what Dame Judith Hackitt requested of the construction industry in 2018. Now we have companies, led by progressive individuals such as Angela Bennett FCA who are prepared to openly identify their corporate integrity and be tested on it. This gives clients sight of suppliers in whom they can tangibly see their responsible behaviour. And in employing the Fire Aware supplier can also benefit from being part of the scheme as a Fire Aware client! This has never happened before and is absolutely changing the culture of fire safety procurement across the UK. Great week this week at the Fire Aware online shop, where members have been purchasing branding such as signs and van or helmet stickers! We do ask members as part of their charter conditions to identify their association to Fire Aware as much as possible within their corporate image, which lets their customers know that they have taken on an assesment of their corporate behaviour. We will soon be adding a range of Fire Aware branded clothing to the shop which can also feature the members company logo as well as Fire Aware! Watch this space on that! FDM are a training company. There are many, so what’s different. Well, the difference is, just like all of our Fire Aware Educators, we know that as one of our members, the information FDM provide their students, educates on the limitations of the course. They do not send people out into the industry believing that they are capable of providing services that their courses do not substantiate. And that, is responsibility.
