Are we approaching a future where companies will only deal with AI? B2A? A2A? Looking past the slightly clickbaity title, the article linked below does highlight a prominent concern that has been growing in the background for a number of years now. Traditional approaches to Customer Relations are often broken due to issues with scale or a total lack of dynamism. Could AI realistically be a key answer to reinstating 'customer satisfaction' in many of these troubled industries? I think the answer is 'probably'. If given the correct level of authority (and therein lies a whole other rabbit hole) then I think it would represent an upgrade in many senses. So, supposing: 1) We all have AI-based digital PAs in the future that are trained to understand our personal and specific set of needs, desires and frustrations. AND 2) There is widespread adoption by businesses of front-end AI for streamlined CRM activities. THEN Would there even be a requirement for humans to interact with other humans in these use cases? We'd see the rise of an optimised, albeit slightly scary set of A2A cases, requiring little or no input from us at all. 🤔 😕 Inevitable? Thoughts? https://lnkd.in/esj-aDvG #ai #crm

An interesting and in-depth look at generative AI use from a grassroots and NFP perspective. Often overlooked or overshadowed by larger or more enterprise-biased entities, the view from the various group participants is enlightening, but not surprising, especially when looking at stats such as: ➡ 73% of organisations do not have policies or guidelines about AI in place. but... ➡ 78% of non-profit and grassroots organisations use generative AI tools in some capacity. This article helps bolster my view that: 1) You MUST have some form of policy/guidance for your staff, if only to educate them as to the potential benefits and risks associated with AI. 2) There is still a large amount of confusion as to the 'correct' way of harnessing this latest generation of gen-AI, especially at a management level. 3) Without a thorough understanding, or the policies in place, gen-AI becomes the perfect incubator for both shadow-IT and significant hidden organisational risk. Worth a read if you have time, and/or are working in these sectors. #ai #nfp https://lnkd.in/dnDZnRZc

"Mistakes happen at all levels in all organizations, some are just more public than others!" Part of a comment I made to my CIO/CTO peers last Friday when we were collectively discussing the unfolding Crowdstrike issues. At times like those, being part of a global network of fellow technology leaders can be invaluable. Mark Chillingworth provides an insight into these discussions, along with outcomes in his recent short article. Well worth a read if you're interested in how the crisis was dealt with from a CIO/CTO perspective. #cio #crowdstrike https://lnkd.in/dz9rZDh8

AI is even infiltrating the Olympics, what could possibly go wrong? Jovial cynicism aside, I am both unsurprised and apprehensive about AI once again being introduced (forced!?) into a setting that potentially has little real need for it. This article is a little light on actual detail, and (in my view) goes off on a tangent regarding deepfakes, however, it will be very interesting to see if Intel's plans actually enhance the viewer experience or just tick the box as a marketing activity. The rhetoric is pretty strong: "In Paris, we will elevate this endeavour to an entirely new echelon.". So let's hope it can live up to the hype! Thoughts? #ai #olympics #paris2024 https://lnkd.in/eQtJhJ3P

Not the Friday anyone in tech (or many other departments) wanted... https://lnkd.in/enmBRgsW We are constantly reminded by incidents such as this that the fundamentals are important and should never be ignored. Code reviews, regression testing, sandboxing, pre-production gates, etc exist for a reason. It will be interesting to see exactly what took place once the dust settles, and the litigation begins. Modern IT is complex, and the shift to cloud-based infrastructure only compounds this. That's not to say that it shouldn't be embraced, merely a reminder that you need to understand your fundamentals and have a robust BCP in place should the worst happen. Good luck to everyone battling for uptime today and over the weekend. #microsoft #crowdstrike #outage

IPv6 - Paradoxically, both a blast from the past and a future milestone. Are we still putting off the inevitable? This article in the Register drew me back to memories of early IPv6 adoption and the pre-NAT (IYKYK) rush to stem the flow of public IPv4 addresses being allocated. China's government has mandated an acceleration in the adoption of IPv6, aiming for complete migration by 2030. This aligns with their broader ambitions for enhancing internet infrastructure and digital governance. China has already achieved the world's largest IPv6 network and continues to lead in the number of active users. Despite this, it appears that their efforts are also slowing. Do we still consider IPv6 essential, due to things like IoT and mobile telecoms, or are we content with the status-quo? From my perspective, I rarely hear of an organisation (let alone government) with an active IPv4->6 migration programme, so I'd be interested in hearing what my network thinks? #networks #IPv6 https://lnkd.in/djxJSxAC

Positive news to see the UK tech sector surpassing China to become the second-largest global ecosystem in funding. This impressive achievement highlights how innovative the UK has become, fuelled by substantial investments and a newly energised post-covid start-up culture. The article in Fortune notes that the UK's tech scene secured $45.2 billion in 2023, surpassing China and demonstrating the country's growing influence in the global market. One key takeaway for me is the diverse range of industries benefiting from this boom, including fintech, health tech, and (of course) AI. Do you find this surprising, or do you already think of the UK as fostering a supportive ecosystem for entrepreneurs? #UKTech #DigitalTransformation https://lnkd.in/eYjxQXbK

A step forward for FinOps as AWS, Google and Microsoft commit to standardised cloud billing. At a time where many companies are putting cloud-related spend under the microscope, this is a much-needed step in the right direction. The potential benefits of these efforts are far-reaching. They can drive cost-reduction, improve transparency and overall help to ensure easier more comprehensible cloud financial management for both providers and consumers alike. With more CIOs & CFOs adopting a FinOps-style approach to infrastructure costs, it makes sense that the next arena of combat for the cloud providers will be transparency and service segmentation. Do we think the momentum will continue, and is FinOps now the de facto standard approach that companies should take to control and understand costs? #cloud #finops https://lnkd.in/empNUzHK

I'll be honest, and say that this resulted in mixed feelings for me....... 😕 "Faces made of living skin make robots smile" as detailed in the BBC article and Cell.com report below. In what is an understandable(?) progression within the field of robots, I applaud the novel use of technology, but I'm not sure that society is quite ready for this step culturally, especially given the waves that AI is currently causing within various industries. Imagine a Boston Dynamics dog or Tesla Optimus in a living skin suit.... I'd be keen to get everyone's thoughts on this? #robotics #ai https://lnkd.in/ebjJ8kbg https://lnkd.in/eFtKnmTq

AI Artifacts, one step closer to more meaningful integration of AI into everyday workflows? Anthropic, a growing AI player in the tech industry, has recently launched Claude-3.5 Sonnet, the newest addition to their AI models. Building upon the foundation of its predecessor Claude-3.5 has shown significant improvements in performance, generating more realistic and coherent outputs. This is a step forward in our journey towards AI models that understand and interpret our world accurately. While the model has been primarily tested within creative writing and language-based tasks, the scope is far wider. Industries such as financial services or motorsport can potentially leverage the model for real-time analytics, problem-solving, and predictive modelling. However, with great power comes great responsibility. As more features come onboard, and things like Artifacts allow for greater integration with business workflows, concerns about governance and ethical use of AI technology continue to grow. Strong leadership and an eye for detail will be paramount to navigate these challenges. This AI model sets a new benchmark in technology. It underlines the increasing rate of change and the scale at which we operate. Yet, it also amplifies the need for us to continually refine our digital transformation strategies and methodologies. As technology leaders, how will we integrate such advancements into our strategies? How well equipped are we to manage the ethical issues highlighted by AI’s evolution? #AIInnovation #DigitalTransformation
