Students at Howell’s College have received their A-level results today, and this cohort has outperformed pre-Covid achievements. This outstanding set of results is a well-deserved recognition of the commitment, energy, and enthusiasm the students have demonstrated throughout their time at College. We proudly announce that 95% of offer holders have secured a place at their first-choice university, and 82.2% of students achieved grades A*-B. We were delighted to welcome Dr Simon Hyde, General Secretary of the HMC (The Heads' Conference), to Howell's this morning. Dr Hyde was welcomed by Mrs Davis, who was keen to share with him all our recent news and development plans, and hear what other HMC member schools are up to. College students Lois and Jessica gave Dr Hyde a tour of the school. In the Prep School, Year 4 were excited to meet such an important visitor, and were thrilled to show him what they are working on. Yesterday, we were delighted to host the critically acclaimed artist Nathan Wyburn Art at Howell’s. Nathan, a Welsh variety act artist and media personality, is renowned for his innovative approach to creating celebrity portraits and pop culture imagery using unconventional materials such as foodstuffs and household items. In 2011, Wyburn showcased his talent on the TV talent show Britain’s Got Talent, where he astounded audiences by crafting a portrait of judge Michael McIntyre using Marmite on toast. During his visit, Nathan captivated our Prep School assembly and led two engaging finger painting classes for Years 2 and 4. Inspired by their exploration of India this term, Year 4 embarked on creating exquisite elephant depictions. Year 2, eagerly anticipating our upcoming Eisteddfod, skilfully crafted Welsh dragon flags with pride. Nathan also visited the Senior School, where he engaged with a group of A level students, sharing insights into his career and offering invaluable advice to our budding artists. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Nathan for a truly inspiring day.

On Monday 11th March 2024 Sally Davis, Principal, is delighted to be hosting an In Conversation With Howell’s alumna Elizabeth Wilcox (Class of 2020). This event is part of the GDST (The Girls' Day School Trust) In Conversation series which brings together alumni, current students, parents and the wider GDST family. The event will take place in the Great Hall and will start with refreshments at 4pm before the conversation begins at 4.30pm. On Monday November 27th, Howell's had the honour of hosting Natasha Devon MBE, an esteemed writer and broadcaster. As a Mindful School dedicated to prioritising student wellbeing, we were excited to welcome Natasha for the day. Natasha, a certified Mental Health First Aid instructor, has made a significant impact by touring schools across the UK and beyond. Her expertise lies in delivering insightful talks on mental health, body image, gender, and equality. Following Natasha's visit, Deputy Principal (Pastoral), Zoe Harvey, has shared valuable insights into the crucial role that a well-defined mental health strategy plays in the realm of girls' education. We are thrilled to share this incredible speech that Shifa in Year 12 delivered in the House of Commons. Shifa represented Cardiff as a Member of Youth Parliament (MYP) during the annual sitting, and we couldn't be more proud of her.
