Lavazza’s packaging is the true face of our global brand. Over the years, it has ‘dressed’ our coffee in various forms and colours, as well as keeping it fresh from bean to cup, offering not only protection for the product but also a way to promote the brand. There have been important innovations in the field of packaging throughout the 20th century and right up to the present day. From plain to branded bags – made first of just paper and then with a poly-lining – and from cans for loose coffee beans to those for ground coffee, this continuous evolution testifies to an ongoing commitment to quality and beautiful design. Our People explore the cultures and origins of coffee. We launched the Lavazza Group Ambassador Programme in 2023 to offer our collaborators from all over the world the chance to visit coffee-producing communities, giving them a way to learn more about production processes, experience first-hand the sustainability challenges faced by supply chains, and actually work in the plantations. It's an opportunity to enjoy a unique experience and create bonds with colleagues from all over the world, gaining cross-cultural knowledge they can share when they return. We are committed to producing the highest quality coffee with the lowest possible environmental impact. With this in mind, we have drawn up the “Sustainable Packaging Roadmap,” which aims to make our product portfolio’s packaging compostable, recyclable or reusable. This Roadmap follows the main guidelines of the circular economy, whose criteria also extend to coffee machines and production processes.
