Many pet owners have faced the heartbreaking decision to rehome their animals to access certain accommodations, with some ending up in animal shelters. We're hoping this will soon be a thing of the past in England, with the recent introduction of the Renters' Rights Bill. This will provide tenants with long-overdue legal rights regarding their pets that can't be unreasonably refused by landlords 🎉 We've campaigned for this change for many years, and look forward to the positive impact this bill will have on the lives of countless animals and their owners. Despite 11 requests, no hunts have been granted trail hunting licences for the 2024/2025 hunting season on Ministry of Defence land 🙌 Trail hunting is often used as a smokescreen for illegal hunting, and the Ministry of Defence owns 343,600 hectares of land in the UK, making this a huge win for animals! After six and a half incredible years at the RSPCA, it is time to pass the baton on as I move to join the NSPCC as their new Chief Executive in January 2025.

We're sad to be saying farewell to our Chief Executive, Chris Sherwood at the end of our 200th year, but we couldn't be happier that he's joining the amazing NSPCC. Creating a kinder world for animals starts with children. We are already part of the NSPCC's story, having supported their founding in 1884. We continue to work closely today, with our frontline team reporting potential child protection issues they encounter during their animal cruelty and neglect investigations. Chris has led our organisation over the last 6.5 years through difficult times such as the Covid pandemic and the cost of living crisis, and we're proud of what we've achieved for every kind under his leadership. Good luck, Chris, and thank you for everything 💙
