    This week, Saga were proud to celebrate National Carers Week.   We recognise that caring responsibilities can have a huge impact on a carer’s life both day-to-day and long-term, affecting relationships, health, finances, and work. Sometimes, the transition from helping loved ones in the short term to longer-term is so subtle, individuals might even be unaware they’ve become a carer. Our aim of Carers Week is to help our colleagues know that they are not alone, by acknowledging the challenges that they face and raise awareness of the support available, to help them balance their caring responsibilities alongside their work at Saga, like the ‘Caring for Others’ policy, that we introduced earlier this year, providing paid leave for those with caring responsibilities. One of our colleagues spoke to us about their experience of being a carer and the value of having support from her employer:   “Being a carer is tough at times, which is why having a good support system and an understanding manager and employer can make all the difference”   Let’s all show appreciation for the outstanding contribution that unpaid carers make to their families, friends and communities up and down the UK.  #CarersWeek #ExperienceIsEverything

    Happy International Women’s Day Today is an important day to acknowledge the progress we've made towards gender equality, but also to recognize the slow pace of change.     Solo travel is making the headlines in our 2024 travel trends results, with 20% of travellers planning solo trips in 2024 and 11% of solo travellers forming romantic relationships on their holidays 💓. Most importantly, we see solo trips resulting in a shift in self-perception, with 54% of travellers that Saga spoke to saying that their first trip alone made them feel proud of themselves and 50% of respondents saying that other people had been impressed when they had heard of their solo travel plans.     We’re excited to announce the launch of Saga Legal, in partnership with Co-op Legal Services providing services specifically with people over 50 in mind. Through the partnership, customers can access advice and guidance from the legal specialists at Co-op Legal Services on a range of estate planning and probate services, from standard will drafting to more complex Inheritance Tax solutions and the protection of assets. Our research of Saga customers has shown that: • Only a quarter are reviewing their wills every 3-5 years, as recommended • 40% of those without a will said that an affordable will service would motivate them to create one • 29% of customers are looking for more guidance on how to prepare a will The service aims to tackle this, providing customers with transparent, fixed-fee pricing and quotes on a no-obligation basis.     World Menopause Day    Please note - we must highlight this does come with a Trigger Warning as it includes references to self-harm and suicide.   On World Menopause Day, Saga are proud to continue to highlight our commitment to supporting colleagues through every stage of their lives.   Last year we were proud to announce we had been successfully assessed to be an independently Menopause friendly employer.   Through our regular Menopause cafes, a growing and active Colleague Resource Group – Menopause Matters, updated policies and dedicated resources, we aim to provide an inclusive environment where Menopause is understood, embraced and fully supported.    We sat down with one of our colleagues, Teresa, who has bravely shared her own experiences navigating Menopause. Our message today is that you are not alone and whether your experience is good, bad or indifferent it’s starting to have the conversation with the aim to increase understanding, knowledge, its symptoms and its impact on health.   Let’s work together to change the narrative and support all those who experience it. #WorldMenopauseDay #BeWell #BeYou #ExperienceIsEverything
