The business case for diversity, equity and inclusion in start-ups is stronger than ever – but what are the true benefits of hiring a diverse workforce? 🧠Variation of perspectives: Different characteristics and backgrounds = different skills and experiences. 🤸♀️Increased activity: Diversity from the top-down is essential.     “A company founded by men, led by men and funded by men became the first WOMEN’s health app to achieve Unicorn status.” 🦄 It’s no secret that women are on the back-foot when it comes to receiving VC funding – with less than 2% of EU funding going to Female founders in 2023. There has been a lot of backlash around Flo’s Unicorn Series C in the media – given they are the first EU fem-tech unicorn, but are led by a male leadership team… Some have seen this as a story of the harsh reality of the business world, a real-world example of how only men can succeed in an Entrepreneurial space. Although, some have seen this as a mark to be celebrated. This is a huge signal that there is a real appetite and space for FemTech’s in the market. Not to say that challenges faced by women are any less – but a win is a win, if it will result in funding being given into Women’s health. We’re on the fence.
