    How many CV’s is the right number of CV’s to shortlist? Here at Seven Search and Selection Ltd we always ask for feedback from our clients and candidates so we can build on the positives and take the feedback on areas to build on. Recently I received really positive feedback from a first time client where they were really pleased with the 4 candidates submitted – “could have offered all 4 a job if I had 4 jobs!”. However they mentioned they would have expected to receive 20 CV’s to sift through as this is what they are used to and felt exposed at the beginning of the process because they hadn’t done this. In my opinion this is what a client is paying us for. We take a detailed brief around the role, requirements, culture, personality etc and then provide a choice of a small number of candidates who meet the brief from all angles. If we have a concern or there is a gap anywhere, we share this upfront with the client so they know which areas to probe further. Yes we do cost clients money for our service (unfortunately we can’t work for free) but we offer a high quality service that - -      saves clients time in sourcing candidates -      gives clients the shape and feel of the market -      Reduces the hours spent screening and interviewing. This leaves line managers the time to be adding value with their role whether this is commercially or developing team members doing what they are experts in Look forward to hearing your take on this
