I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judy with the sinking of the Bayesian near Sicily. I have had the absolute pleasure of knowing Jonathan in his role at Morgan Stanley where he has been a passionate champion and supporter of the firm's partnership with The Felix Project over many years. Jonathan was always so warm and kind and took time to come out to our depot in East London and always spoke so brilliantly at the Christmas carol concerts supporting our work. I always loved sitting next to him and sharing stories of our work and lives - he always made me laugh and cared a great deal about the work we do. We often talk about the Felix family - the community of people who make our work possible - and our colleagues at Morgan Stanley make up an important part of that community, with so many coming and volunteering their time at our depots and kitchen. Our thoughts are with them all having lost such a wonderful colleague. My deepest sympathies go out to Jonathan’s and Judy’s family and friends.

Thank you to everyone that answered our urgent call to rescue plums! Thanks to you, we rescued just over 4 tonnes of plums! 4.03 tonnes to be exact. This is a truly remarkable achievement and because of your belief in what we do, your passion for preventing food waste and feeding Londoners in need, these nutritious and delicious plums are headed out to community organisations and charities all across London. We need your help Monday 12 August to rescue thousands of plums that, very selfishly if we might add, have ripened ahead of schedule and are at risk of of going to waste. Last season, we rescued 100 tonnes of much needed apples, pears, and plums which we then delivered to over 1,000 charities & schools, so if you are free and fancy an amazing day out, join us on Monday! It’s a great concern that we face the prospect of communities across London being threatened by racist extremists today. We at The Felix Project would like to voice our unwavering solidarity with everyone affected. Our work getting food to charities, schools, and groups caring for every community throughout London is fundamentally at odds with the messages of division and hatred fuelling the violence seen across the UK this week. London is and will always be a vibrant, diverse, and welcoming city, home to many faiths, races, and backgrounds. We know that the violence and intimidation which tries to break that will fail. It will fail because of the thousands who work in so many ways to help their neighbours, to build their communities, and offer support to those living around them. Their actions are so much more powerful than the efforts of the groups that seek to divide us. Thank you now, more than ever, for whatever you do to strengthen the bonds that make London such a compassionate place to live. Let’s continue to work together for a caring and united London.

Prep Kitchen makes chef-cooked healthy meal plans that are delivered right to your door. And by partnering with us, they are ensuring that any products at the end of their production run or left over food items are given to us.
