Lift off!  We’re delighted to announce that Vertical has successfully flown our full-scale electric aircraft at Cotswold Airport, reaching our target speed of 40kts (just over 40mph or 70 kmh) through a series of rigorous, remotely-piloted ‘thrustborne’ test flights. The only full-scale eVTOL aircraft in the UK, the VX4 lifted, hovered, flew and landed, powered solely by the cutting-edge battery-powered propulsion system.  This is a very proud moment and a huge milestone for Vertical and our team, whose enormous dedication and hard work has made this possible. We’d also like to thank Civil Aviation Authority for their support over the flight test campaign, and our industrial partners for their shared belief and vision in the future of electric aviation.     We are planning further flight tests over the coming months which we will continue to share, as well as developing our second prototype aircraft which will feature even more advanced technology.   Watch the video below:   #VerticalAerospace #ThrustborneFlight #VX4

As we move towards piloted thrustborne flight, the teams are undertaking a host of supporting tests to prove the aircraft's safety and performance. This week it was our pleasure to welcome Roz Savage MBE to the Vertical Flight Test Centre, to meet the team and see our VX4 aircraft up close as the flight test campaign continues. Our local MP for South Cotswolds, Roz is a world-record Ocean Rower, Environmental Campaigner, Author and Keynote Speaker, with the incredible achievement of having been the first women to row solo across the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans. In addition to the tour, Roz had a deep-dive introduction to Vertical as a leading British company that's pioneering electric aviation.

Designing, building and flying the plane is the result of perfectly orchestrated teamwork. Our second, full-scale prototype is significantly more advanced than our first aircraft, with 60% of the technology coming from our six global aerospace partners. Coupled with our new proprietary batteries and next generation propellers developed in the UK, it’s a key step towards the certification of our aircraft.
