  • Facades play a crucial role in architecture, serving multiple functional, aesthetic and symbolic purposes. The facade of a building gives it its visual identity and sets the tone for material expression. This exterior design can also serve to complement or enhance the surrounding environment and landscape. There’s an array of projects on this year’s shortlist that showcase how facades have enhanced the building’s form and structure through a range of design elements. These include visually enticing projects from all over the world such as from Australia, India and the Philippines, to Canada, Germany, Latvia and Turkey, which can be viewed on our website > https://bit.ly/3WaGpk2 Will you be attending this year’s #WAF24 in Singapore? • During this year’s WAF 2024 shortlist judging in June, we spoke to Robert Wilson, Architecture Editor Architects’ Journal, who explained that he’d seen a noticeable increase in projects using passive design. With climate change being one of the challenges that modern society faces, it’s interesting to note the innovative and evolving ways that architects are navigating this.
