You’re facing global economic uncertainty. How can you develop resilience?
Change is inevitable - get on board! This is very easy to say but I noticed when my Son became a toddler that his first response to any question was "no"! Change resistance is often in our DNA so what is critical is that when we find we are not embracing changing we ask why. Are we really disappointed with the changes suggested? Is that way of working really going to be less efficient? What is the worst case scenario? Asking questions and continually being curious helps us embrace change faster.

"This too shall pass" Whilst you are in the eye of a storm it is difficult to understand the above but economic cycles are inevitable and also impermanent. This is why I feeI it is critical to focus on your self development from as objective a viewpoint as possible. A skills analysis and audit is always useful to think about whether your personal value proposition remains relevant. In my view this is core to building resilience because if you are genuinely candid and invest in personal growth you will hopefully continually evolve making yourself as relevant as possible to alternative employers in a difficult market.

In my role as a co-founder of ENABL (Empowerment Network for Asian & Black Leaders) a constant theme is that as a community we perhaps underestimated the importance of networking at the onset. During difficult times this network is increasingly important to not only leverage in order to identify potential roles/employment but also to lean on for support and also provide that support for others. The sooner that you invest in this network you will build invaluable connections that are important at all times but particularly during the tough ones.
