What do you do if your research skills aren't translating into a successful entrepreneurial venture?
Waste no time in understanding how complicated go to market can be. You don't have the best but is crucial that you move from unconscious incompetence to conscious incompetence as fast as possible! Then you will know what gaps you have and whether you can grow your own skill set, or get other skills in to help you.

What do you do if your research skills aren't translating into a successful entrepreneurial venture?
Got to market (GTM) strategy is key in the commercialisation of any research program. GTM needs to be approached and understood with the same analytical approach that you bring to your research activities. Nothing happens until somebody sells something. Bear this in mind and be honest when you think about your skill set. Be open to the right advice from the right people.

The winner was determined by judges Georgina Park, Global Brand Manager, Unilever; Ian Lane, Principal, Unilever Ventures; Lawrence Weber, Managing Partner Innovation, Karmarama; and Rob Chapman, Director, Founders Forum. Tech London Advocates supported the process with Ken Valledy of Tech2Brand compèring the event.
