What are the best practices for using personas in A/B testing?
I'd start by recognising that creating pure "lab conditions" A/B tests in live campaigns brand invested money is nearly impossible. So the key task is to get as close to that as possible: 1. Clearly delineated personas with minimal overlap (or solid frequency cap) 2. Ensure they're similar scale so any AI applied in activation has similar size training sets 3. Identical creative and identical investment in both sides of A/B 4. Be brutal about what to measure. The final KPI is often product sales - so get the measurement KPI/framework as close to that as possible 5. Recognise you can't control all variable. Differentials in Geo of delivery, day, weather, news cycle may influence outcomes. Be prepared to interpret results on that basis

The first website I ever produced. Thanks to the web.archive.org guys you can see most of the work as was back then - some of the image links are broken but you can still get an idea of what it was like. First delivered in 1997 when there were under 2 million sites on the web (620 million at September 2012). Hand coded by Stuart Berwick. It's amazing to think how little sophistication and knowledge existed back then.
