What are the most effective ways to prepare a leader for a CEO or board role?
- Am I doing this right? That's the most common question I get.I work with both founder, first time and experienced CEOs and speak to many CEOs each month. The reality is there is no right or wrong to do it, only your way. You bring a unique set of skills and experience. Play to your strengths (your Zone of Genius) and surround yourself with people who compliment you and your approach. You are in the position you are in because of your strengths not despite of your weaknesses. There is little point focusing things you aren't great at. The only dangers ahead are in your blind spots. What are you tolerating? What energy are you expending ignoring, over explaining or forcing through? Look in those places for improvement.
