By providing real-time, trusted, and comparable sustainability data through dashboards which are directly linked to outcomes and impact, you empower stakeholders—both internal and external—to move beyond mere input and output metrics. This approach enables stakeholders to see real-time developments and understand the sustainable outcomes being achieved.

Regularly communicating progress against goals is important for both internal and external stakeholders. And being able to do that with real-time, trusted, comparable data is even better, not only to highlight where ROI and initiatives are driving real impact but in showing where the challenges are and what that means in terms of further collaboration, additional support/resources needed and by ultimately keeping the focus on the bigger picture.

Having access to real-time, trusted and comparable data not only enables the tracking of progress against sustainability goals but allows transparency into both the success and challenges on the path to achieving those goals; after all, progress isn't always linear but knowing what the next step to take in achieving them is critical.

Data provenance is the key to sharing trusted, transparent and comparable ESG data with stakeholders. So having a way that shows the evidence of where the data has come from, who provided it, how it was calculated and any supporting evidential assets back to each data point means that you can show exactly how the data has aggregated back up to the overall impact you're making as an organisation. And then making your ESG data readily available to stakeholders through your report, live dashboards etc, means that you will also build trust as you show your journey and your overall progress.

Look for stretch opportunities within your current role to either support existing sustainability efforts that your organisation are building, or by looking for ways to build sustainability into your role now, and getting buy-in, sponsorship and support to execute those great ideas. This is of course in addition to building into your development plan things like reading, formal education and finding a mentor/coach in the sustainability function who can additionally guide and support you as you build your experience.
