is a youth-led non-governmental organization based in North Eastern Kenya. GNEI focuses on building climate-resilient communities in Arid and Semi-arid regions, and its programs are under two main thematic areas: environmental education and climate action

The Green North Eastern Initiative has also incorporated the inter faith aspect to promote cultural and religious beliefs within the area of implementation. This is in order to ensure inclusivity and enable promotion of indigenous knowledge that is vital for climate action.

Greenpeace MENA (Middle East and North Africa) is the latest organisation in the Greenpeace network that now consists of 27 independent national/regional organisations in over 55 countries across Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia and the Pacific, as well as a co-ordinating body, Greenpeace International. Greenpeace MENA will prioritise environmental problems from this important region, offering  solutions for its people and working hand in hand with the local communities in order to push for a greener and more peaceful world.

Greenpeace has been present in the Southeast Asia region since 2000. Southeast Asia’s forests, mountains, rivers and oceans are home to millions of people and thousands of species of trees, plants, birds and mammals. But today, much of these flora and fauna are under threat from climate change, deforestation, pollution and unsustainable industrialised agriculture. The region’s rapid industrialisation and economic success has come at a heavy price. Through its campaigns, Greenpeace aims to protect Southeast Asia from further ecological ruin and to serve as a beacon of awareness and action in the interest of environmental protection and sustainable development.

IFEES/EcoIslam is a leading Islamic environmental agency,  helping to bridge the gap between the inherent ecological guidance of Islam and what informs daily behaviour as Muslims, aiming to bring about positive change across our communities and beyond to protect the earth.

is an acronym for Pertubuhan Alam Sekitar Sejahtera Malaysia (Malaysian Peaceful Environment Organisation). It was registered on 23 October 2014. The establishment of GRASS aims to elevate the environmental aspect from a religious and cultural point of view. GRASS Malaysia is a non-governmental civil society organisation that works to raise awareness in environmental care. These efforts are carried out through a series of activities in the form of talks, workshops, service and cooperation with the community as well as organisations such as universities, schools, government institutions, NGOs and local residents.

HAF is committed to furthering sustainable development and supports Moroccan communities to take action in implementing human development initiatives. HAF promotes sustainable agriculture, women’s empowerment, youth development, education, and health by focusing on capacity building, highlighting the community’s culture and strengthening the local dialogue.

The Eco Masjid movement in Indonesia is a mosque concept that cares about the interrelationship between living creatures and the environment, advocates for environmental awareness and turning  mosques into a center for a sustainable environmental movement. Their website provides various information about environmentally friendly actions practiced in every aspect of worship, such as during ablution, waste disposal, energy use, and water management.

is a cultural community from youth generation of Muhammadiyah, which is one of the biggest muslim organizations in Indonesia. As a cultural community KHM is a grassroot movement that  organizes training on environmental issues. KHM was born in November, 2019 marked by the advocac movement against agrarian conflict in Sepat Reservoir in Surabaya, East Jawa.

Is an indigene of Lagos State from Epe. He is the Chief Imam of the Islamic Platform Society of Nigeria and the Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC); Founder and Co-Executive Director of the Strength in Diversity Development Centre, and the Farmers Advocacy and Support Initiative in Nigeria. 
He is the National Co-Coordinator of the Inter-religious Coalition Against Corruption in Nigeria (ICACN); the Interfaith Partnership for Sustainable Development in Nigeria and the Chief Executive Officer of the Open Farm and Agro-allied Company Limited.

Imam Shefiu Abdulkareem Majemu is an International Fellow of the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID) and THE European Union Global Exchange on Religion and Society (GERIS). He is a member of many international organizations such as the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers, Foundation for Ethnic Understanding (FFEU), NYC Partnership for Religion and Development (PaRD), Germany, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), World Bank /IMF Global Faith Initiative, CSOs Forum on the UN Convention Against Corruption and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC). 
He is the Founder and Executive Director of the International Centre for Religious Moderation (ICRM), Nigeria and currently, the National Co-Secretary, Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace (IDFP), Nigeria.

Pakistan Maholiati Tahaffuz Movement (PMTM), which translates to ‘Pakistan Environment Protection Movement’ is an enviro-human-centric socio-political movement that was founded in 2021 just before the second Climate March in Karachi, Pakistan.

PMTM was conceived as the discourse on climate change was just beginning. Its intention is to mobilize local youth from the grassroots, and embolden their voices to speak out against climate injustice and the impact of climate change overall.

Our priorities include accountability for contributions towards global warming; youth capacity building via scientific education, climate discourse based on faith (eco-faith), and discussions on policy-making; as well as holding discourse on governance, lifestyle, empowerment etc.

We believe that everything stems from nature, as we ourselves are part of it. Our culture, identity, economy, language, even religion is influenced by our surroundings.

Our aim is to create a movement that will address all environmental and climate change issues locally, nationally, and internationally. And our hope is that one day when Pakistan gives a call for a climate strike, the world will respond!

The Protect Our Planet Nigeria Initiative on Climate Education (POP Nigeria) hopes to create, through climate education, a sustainable future where children can become more conscious of themselves and their environment, make sustainable career choices to enhance the actualization of sustainable development goals and advocate for pro-environmental behavior and sustainable environmental practices from the local to the national level. POP Nigeria intends to achieve a peaceful, greener, and eco-friendly society with a reduction in global warming through climate education. The POP Nigeria Initiative aims to reduce the severity of climate change impacts in local communities and build resilience and adaptation mechanisms against climate change by closing the knowledge gap about climate change, and facilitating technical support while providing a supportive network that empowers youth and stakeholders to engage actively in addressing climate-induced environmental challenges. The POP Nigeria Initiative was designed with the help and input of climate change experts, grassroots climate groups, and environmental specialists and is specifically dedicated to educating people about climate change and activating them as climate change actors for their communities.

Tariq Al-Olaimy is co-founder and managing director of 3BL Associates, a people + planet strategy consultancy and Think-do-Tank established to accelerate global sustainable and regenerative development through collaboration. Tariq is among the first 100 certified Biomimicry specialists in the world.
Tariq was named one of 10 Muslim men shaping the world by Mvslim.com. He was the first person from the MENA region to be recognized by GreenBiz and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development as their “30 under 30” leaders for breaking new ground in sustainability innovation. He took part in launching the Islamic Declaration on Climate Change in 2015. Currently, Tariq is on the advisory board of the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. 

Dr. Fachruddin Mangunjaya was part of the drafting team for the Islamic Declaration on Climate Change, Istanbul (2015). Environmentalist, Author, and Lecturer at the Faculty of Biology Universitas Nasional, Chairman of the Centre for Islamic Studies Universitas Nasional, and Fellow at “The Climate Leader Presenter” Program. Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM) 2018-2019. Graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Biology at the National University (UNAS) in Jakarta, and master’s degree in conservation biology at the University of Indonesia, and a Ph.D. from the Post Graduate Program Environmental Management and Natural Resources (PSL), Bogor Agricultural University. He is the writer of the “Last Generation Book”.

Imam Saffet A. Catovic has his MBA, is a long-time US Muslim Community Organizer/Activist and Environmental Leader, and is currently the Director of United Nations Operations for Justice For All.  Before this, he was the Head of ISNA’s Office for Interfaith, Community Alliances, and Government Relations in Washington, DC. From 1992-2001 he served in various Senior level capacities in the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina including Minister Counselor at the Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Nations, NYC, and Deputy Federation Contract Administrator at the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United States in DC.

Imam Saffet A. Catovic currently serves on the Parliament of the World’s Religions Climate Action Task Force and serves on the Parliament’s Board of Trustees; he is a Member of the Statewide Clergy Council of Faith in New Jersey (part of the Faith in Action National Network). He is GreenFaith’s Fellow and serves as their Senior Muslim advisor; Co-founder and Chair of the Green Muslims of New Jersey (GMNJ); a founding committee member of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) Green Initiatives; Consultant to the Islamic Declaration on Global Climate Change (2015); a founding member of the Global Muslim Climate Network (GMCN); Co-drafter of the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) “Fatwa” Religious ruling on fossil fuel divestment; Member of the scholars Drafting team of “Al-Mizan-Covenant for the Earth” organized under the auspices of UNEP, Faiths for Earth; Board member of the Muslim Alliance in North America (MANA); and on the Advisory group of the Yale Forum on Religion and Ecology.

Nana Firman is GreenFaith’s Senior Ambassador. She is from Indonesia, she directed WWF-Indonesia’s “Green Reconstruction” efforts during a post-tsunami period and developed an urban climate change adaptation and mitigation initiative. Nana is an internationally recognized speaker, she is one of 20 Earth Defenders featured in One Earth: People of Color Protecting Our Planet.

Since 2013, Kori Majeed has used her Green Ramadan platform to encourage Muslims to eat mindfully and tread lightly by cultivating sustainable habits during Ramadan. These habits are based on Islamic teachings and principles that call humanity to give all of Allah’s creation their rights. Kori is a GreenFaith fellow, Master Naturalist-trainee, chair of the Green Team at Masjid Muhammad, the Nation’s Mosque, in Washington DC, and a 2022 graduate in Islamic Studies from Bayan Islamic Graduate School. Kori is also co-author of the ebook “Forty Green Hadith: Sayings of the Prophet Muhammadﷺ on Environmental Justice & Sustainability”.

Memona Hossain is a mother, community-based collaborator, and Ph.D. Candidate in Applied Ecopsychology. She holds a Master’s in Education from the University of Toronto. She has been a lecturer at the University of Toronto’s School of Environment. She teaches through community platforms such as the University of Guelph Arboretum and the Riverwood Conservancy. Memona serves on the Board of Directors for the Muslim Association of Canada, Faith & the Common Good, and the Willow Park Ecology Centre. She is an advisor & content contributor for Faithfully Sustainable, a member of the Green Ummah Blog Editorial Team; and a member of the Muslim Climate Watch Research Advisory & Editorial team. She is the founder of the Islam & Earth project and runs a bi-weekly podcast on Earth-based topics through an Islamic worldview.

Ms. Rianne C. ten Veen LLM MA MSc PGDip PGCert is an independent disaster governance, sustainable development, and intercultural dialogue facilitator, consultant, and trainer. In 2021 a GreenFaith Fellow. After a decade at an INGO and a decade at a consultancy (some of which are part-time), she has been a Ph.D. researcher on globalization and surveillance. She focuses on intercultural/ disaster-related/ environment/ teaching/ development projects (the more interdisciplinary, the better!). She has been a trustee and board member. In 2019 e.g. a candidate for the Provincial & Water body elections. She is a member of the management team of the Islamic Foundation for Ecology & Environment Sciences (IFEES) and co-founded ‘Faith and Climate Change’ (a Birmingham Friends of the Earth project; this project was a finalist in NESTA’s Big Green Challenge and won The Guardian’s Community Hero award and was the Environment lead on the Committee of the Birmingham Council of Faiths. In 2009, she self-published a ‘Save Cash & planet’ style book from an Islamic perspective: ‘199 Ways to Please God, how to (re-)align your daily life with your Duty of Care to Creation’ (ISBN: 978-1844266296) and set up Green Creation. In 2018 her home (built in 1847) almost won the most sustainable home in Groningen (it can be visited from time to time through DuurzameHuizenRoute).

Green Muslims is an American Muslim environmental non-profit organization based in Washington DC that organizes events to raise environmental awareness and encourage connection with nature. It holds “Our Deen is Green!” educational programming, which brings an Islamic component into nature education; puts together community hikes and cleanups; provides speakers and educational material for local Islamic centers and youth groups; and, together with Green Ramadan, co-hosts Khalifa Conversations, Zoom talks that present on a variety of topics pertaining to Islam and the environment.
The mission of Green Muslims is to serve as a source in the Muslim community for spiritually-inspired environmental education, action, and reflection. Its vision is Muslims living in the environmental spirit of Islam, striving towards connection with nature and environmental stewardship. 

Global One is a UK-based Muslim women-led international development NGO with registered offices in Kenya, Nigeria, Bangladesh and Jordan. Global One works to raise awareness on sustainability under the legacies of Islam and has introduced a guide to green practices during hajj. These include recommendations to waste management, public transport and sensible energy consumption in order to reduce our individual carbon footprint during Hajj.

Empower Hub is a youth-led, SDG-oriented, gender inclusive social enterprise empowering young leaders to study in their dream institutions and advocate for a just world. We also believe that People who are closest to pain should be closest to power, so we should empower the most vulnerable among us because everyone deserves equal protection and prosperity. Therefore, Empower Hub has +150 partnerships with local youth-led organisations and students’ activities to be able to provide more opportunities to those from marginalised communities. We provide online Educational courses and mentoring sessions  to allow students to apply for educational scholarships and exchange opportunities. We also had partnerships with different international organisations such as the British Council, Amideast, Wave Makers United, Wetskills, UKYCC, Oxfam, and Women Deliver. Those partnerships have been helping us execute sustainable development programs related specifically to gender equality, quality education, climate action, and generally to the SDGs where we can contribute in solving some issues in our society.

The Bayero University Kano (BUK) is a federal public university located in Kano City, Kano State, in Northern Nigeria. It was founded in 1975 when it was renamed from Bayero University College and upgraded from a University College to a University. It is the first university in Kano State, North-western Nigeria. Bayero University Kano is ranked among the top 10 universities in Nigeria by the Times Higher Education. The university has a student population of over 40 thousand students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The university has a good working relationship with various universities from all over the world. Both in the past and present, BUK has drawn international staff and students including a one-time lecturer Prof Gurnah who won the 2022  Nobel Prize in Literature.

The Arab Youth Green Voices Network “AYGV” is a non-profit civil society network. Its organizers, young men and women from most of the Arab countries, seek to support transformative change in the issue of climate change and environmental problems by raising awareness of these issues, focusing on the efforts of young men and women in the region in this regard and build their capacity to face the climate challenge in our region. In addition to providing reliable content and young success stories that dealt with problems related to climate change and the environment in the region.
The network support and embracing the young entrepreneurs and innovators are developing sustainable technologies and solutions and creating renewable energy systems, eco-friendly products, and implementing innovative approaches to waste management and conservation.
The network aims educating communities about climate change with simple content and language and raise awareness in schools, communities, and online platforms, promoting understanding and action toward more sustainable lifestyles in Arabic language. In addition to learning about adopting eco-friendly practices in their daily lives
Moreover, we are involved in building resilience within our communities, developing adaptation strategies, and advocating for social justice and equity in climate action.
Finally, the network believe that Arab youth have a unique opportunity to drive change and innovation in addressing climate change, leveraging their energy, creativity, and determination to build a more sustainable future for the region, and our network in the bridge to do that and lead the transition to the green transform.
The goal of AYGVN is to empower young people in Arab countries by prioritizing climate change, providing opportunities for green jobs, and supporting green entrepreneurs through sponsorship and assistance. By building their capacity and focusing on sustainability, AYGVN aims to create a greener future for the region while also fostering economic growth and innovation.
