Pierson freshman Max Tabasso, a member of the East Hampton boys swimming team, was named Swimmer of the Meet in the Bonackers’ 62-56 win over North Babylon last Tuesday, January 13. Tabasso swam in his first event of the season, a 50-yard freestyle as a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay.

“Max has been working very hard at practice, knowing he would not be given an opportunity to compete until he could complete a legal, 50 freestyle, with a flip turn,” head coach Craig Brierley said. “Well, he did just that in the meet and was a part of the C relay team that finished in third place. The captains recognized this, and knew he earned and deserved the honor of the selection.”

The Bonackers also picked up a 100-76 victory over Central Islip on Thursday, January 15, a meet in which Pierson’s Rob Rewinski set a personal best time of 2:02.32 in the 200-yard freestyle. Bridgehampton’s Claudio Figueroa swam a personal-best 58.86 in the 100-yard freestyle.
