House Explosion in Southampton Sends Two to Hospital, Closes Montauk Highway

Two men were airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital to be treated for burns after the Water Mill house they were working on exploded at approximately 2:15 on Wednesday afternoon.

Police are looking for Ali Wisdom, 37, who they say entered a neighbor’s house on Hillside Drive in Sag Harbor on Tuesday night, brandishing a handgun and demanding the male resident’s money.

Although Mr. Wisdom remains at large, Sag Harbor Village Police Thomas Fabiano said, “he is known to us,” expressing confidence that he would soon be taken into custody.

A Shirley man was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital last Friday afternoon after a pick-up truck struck his sedan at a particularly difficult intersection in East Hampton Village.

Hampton Bays Paramedic Dies on Call

A paramedic with the Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance Corps died of an apparent heart attack while responding to a call on Monday morning.

Ralph Oswald, 64, was on a call responding to an unresponsive male patient at about 9 a.m., the corps stated in a release, when he told his fellow crew members that he was not feeling well and then collapsed.

Woman Claims Police Harassment

A woman who said she was falsely arrested, unlawfully detained, and physically harassed by Sag Harbor Village Police has filed a notice of claim against the village, its police department and Sgt. Thomas Pagano.
