REVISED: Lady Whalers Dominate Under Homecoming Lights

Posted on 29 September 2012

Pierson High School celebrated homecoming on Saturday with the first night field hockey game in school history, but it was Bridgehampton student India Hemby who was named “Da Playa” of the game following Pierson-Bridgehampton’s dominant 5-0 win over Port Jefferson.
Hemby was awarded the team’s self-made and somewhat tattered player-of-the-game hat after she scored two goals to lead the Lady Whalers. Standing in the glow of the portable lights, and with “Da Playa” hat firmly positioned on her head, Hemby joked, “I don’t even go to school here!
“It’s not my homecoming but playing under the lights in front of all these people was great motivation for us,” Hemby continued, having turned more serious. “It was really fun out here for us.”
