Whalers Knock Off Southold to Advance in Postseason

The Pierson boys basketball team took its first step toward an elusive goal Thursday, beating rival Southold, 60-46, to advance from the opening round of the Suffolk County Class C playoffs.

Bridgehampton and Smithtown Christian will face off for the Suffolk Class D crown at William Floyd High School this Monday, February 16, at noon. The winner will advance to the Class D Southeast Regional Final at Suffolk County Community College in Brentwood on March 13, with that winner moving on to the state semifinals in Glens Falls on Friday, March 20.

The Pierson boys basketball team will face Southold to open the Class C playoffs February 12, at 6:15 p.m. with the winner advancing to play Stony Brook on Monday, February 16, at William Floyd High School at 3 p.m.

Bonac Swim Team Earns Top Honor

Craig Brierley, head coach for the East Hampton boys swim team, announced this week that the Bonackers had been awarded the Suffolk County Sportsmanship Award by the Long Island Swimming Officials Association for the second year in a row.

Leggard Wraps Winter Season at State Qualifier

East Hampton Swim Team Honors Seniors

Seven swimmers were honored Saturday at the YMCA in East Hampton as they competed in their final home meet as members of the East Hampton Bonackers. Included in the group were Pierson’s Robert Rewinski and Bridgehampton’s Claudio Figueroa, along with Robert Anderson, Parker Fenelon, Christopher Kalbacher, Harrison Kennedy and Tyler Menold, all of East Hampton.

Track Relay Team Sets New School Record

The East Hampton girls winter track team, which includes a number standout athletes from Pierson, competed on Saturday, January 31, in the Suffolk County Small School Championship Meet at Suffolk Community College in Brentwood, where the team’s 4 x 200 meter relay team set a new school record.
