ACNM's global outreach program has more than three decades of experience strengthening the capacity of midwives and other health care professionals in developing countries. The scope of work encompasses providing safe and compassionate care, reducing maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality, and optimizing the public health impact of maternal and newborn health care providers in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eurasia.
Global programs are operated within the well-established American College of Nurse Midwives, the professional organization for certified nurse-midwives and certified midwives of the United States. Over the past 60 years, ACNM has developed a wealth of expertise and institutional knowledge of the components required to build a profession that creates competent and qualified providers, domestically and internationally.
Our four areas of expertise include:
Development and implementation of in-service training systems
Integrated pre-service strengthening
Strengthening of midwifery and other health professions
