Gretchen Whitmer launches PAC to raise money for 2024 Democrats

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) launched her Fight Like Hell PAC on Monday in an effort to boost Democrats in the 2024 elections.

The popular Democratic governor helped lead the party to a massive victory in the state in 2022, helping her party secure majorities in the state House and Senate. With her new PAC, Whitmer is looking to continue the party's fortune in the state to keep the Great Lakes State in the Democratic column for the 2024 presidential election.

ELECTION OF GOVERNORS: GUBERNATORIAL RECORDS OF SIX 2024 REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES

Michigan voted for President Joe Biden in 2020 after voting for Donald Trump in 2016.

"Today I’m launching Fight Like Hell PAC to support candidates who fight like hell for working people and their fundamental freedoms. It’s time to build on our momentum and support candidates who will deliver real, meaningful change," Whitmer tweeted on Monday.

"Right now, we face an unprecedented moment for democracy. And we keep seeing new attacks from MAGA extremists who want to dismantle our democracy and enshrine bigotry into law. I’ve had enough of it," she added.

The PAC registered with the Federal Election Commission last week, garnering speculation that Whitmer may be eyeing a higher political office despite her endorsement of Biden in 2024.

Whitmer handily defeated her Republican challenger to secure a second term as governor last year by more than 10 percentage points.

Michigan will have all 13 House districts up for election, and the Senate seat held by Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) will be open after Stabenow announced she would not seek an additional term.
