Hunter Biden will be deposed in defamation case brought by laptop repair shop owner

Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, will be deposed as part of a defamation lawsuit filed by the owner of a computer repair shop where the younger Biden dropped off his infamous laptop.

John Paul Mac Isaac's lawyer confirmed to the Washington Examiner that Hunter Biden will be deposed on Thursday as part of the lawsuit.

The lawsuit was filed by Mac Isaac in 2019, months after Hunter Biden dropped off his laptop at the computer store in Delaware in April 2019 and failed to retrieve it once repairs were completed.

In March 2023, the younger Biden countersued Mac Isaac and others, alleging that the computer repairman improperly obtained and disseminated Biden's private information without his consent. The countersuit alleged six counts of privacy invasion.

The Hunter Biden laptop and its contents became a hot topic in the waning days of the 2020 presidential election, with an October 2020 report from the New York Post detailing the contents of the laptop being censored by major social media platforms. The censorship and attempts to discredit the report have been the subject of an investigation by House Republicans.

The authenticity of the contents of the Hunter Biden laptop has been confirmed by numerous news outlets, including the Washington Examiner.

The deposition comes more than a week after it was announced that Hunter Biden would enter a plea deal related to two charges regarding failure to pay federal income tax.

The investigation into Hunter Biden by U.S. Attorney David Weiss has come under increased scrutiny after IRS whistleblowers came forward to allege that Weiss was blocked from bringing various other charges against the president's son.

Testimony from the whistleblowers, released last week by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO), alleges that Joe Biden had more of a role in Hunter Biden's business dealings than previously reported. The whistleblowers allege a Hunter Biden business associate told the FBI that Joe Biden had stopped by at least one China-related business meeting at Hunter Biden’s apparent request.
