Food stamps: July SNAP benefit payments to end for four states this week

Some states are wrapping up their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program for July this week as other states continue to roll out their food stamps throughout the month.

SNAP benefits are reloaded on the same day each month, and the date depends on a recipient's Social Security number, last name, case number, or account number. The range of dates varies by state.

This week, four states will end this month's SNAP benefit rollout. Here is the breakdown of dates, maximum payments, and how much of the population receives food stamps.

Hawaii — July 5

Hawaii will stop sending out payments for July on Wednesday. The Aloha State has one of the shortest payment windows, lasting only two days.

The average payment per household member per month is $385. Around 12% of the population, or 169,900 people, receive food stamps.

In Hawaii, the maximum benefit payment is $356 for a household of one, $936 for a household of three, and $2,141 for a household of eight. After eight household members, the program supplies a maximum of $268 per additional household member.

Nebraska — July 5

Nebraska ends its SNAP payments on Wednesday after beginning on July 1.

The average payment per household member per month is $178. Approximately 8% of the population, or 155,500 people, receive food stamps.

The maximum SNAP benefit payment is $281 for a household of one, $740 for a household of three, and $1,339 for a household of six. Each additional member will receive $211 at most.

Montana — July 6

Montana's SNAP program ends on Thursday after beginning on July 2.

The average payment per household member per month is $177. Around 89,200 people, or 8% of the population, receive food stamps.

In the Treasure State, recipients receive an average of $115 in benefits. The Washington Examiner reached out to the state program for a breakdown of maximum payments.

New Jersey — July 5

New Jersey will end its SNAP benefit payouts on Wednesday after beginning on July 1.

The average payment per household member per month is $179. Approximately 857,300 people, or 9% of the population, receive food stamps.

Eligible households in New Jersey receive at least $95 per month in benefits. The maximum amount for a household of one is $281, $939 for a household of four, and $1,691 for a household of eight. Each additional person receives a maximum of $211.
