The same year, Michigan State University settled with 332 victims of Nassar, agreeing to pay $500 million. USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee also settled in 2021, with the organizations and their insurers agreeing to pay a sum of $380 million.

The scandal drew extensive media coverage as Olympic gold medalists Aly Raisman and McKayla Maroney both testified in court about Nassar's sexual abuse.
