Eleventh-hour deal clears path for Sweden to join NATO in rebuke to Putin
In recent weeks, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has demonstrated why member nations were so anxious to keep him around for another year. The former prime minister of Norway managed to broker a deal that clears the way for Sweden to join Finland as the newest member of the trans-Atlantic alliance.
Stoltenberg’s personal intervention, culminating in yesterday’s meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, broke the deadlock that threatened to block Sweden’s accession to NATO indefinitely.

Chris Christie reveals the event that forced him to break ties with Trump
Republican 2024 presidential candidate Chris Christie said on Tuesday that then-President Donald Trump declaring victory on election night in 2020 was his breaking point.
“Everyone is going to have their different breaking point, based upon your own sensibilities, your own sense of that choice,” Christie said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. “For me, it was election night 2020 when he stood behind the seal of the president in the East Room of the White House and said the election was stolen at 2:30 in the morning, when not all the votes had even been counted yet. He had no basis to say it.”

McConnell takes aim at Democrats for 'fundamental misunderstanding' of Supreme Court
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said he believes Democrats have a "fundamental misunderstanding" of the Supreme Court in the wake of several rulings that have prompted calls from the left for an examination of the high court's ethics.
McConnell wrote in an opinion piece for the Washington Post on Monday that the Supreme Court is an "ideologically unpredictable body that takes cases as they come and produces diverse outcomes." Cases involving affirmative action, student loan forgiveness, and gay rights resulted in ideologically split 6-3 decisions recently.

WEX MIN: Hunter investigator disputes whistleblower claims, Trump fuming at Iowa Gov, Biden breaks royal protocol
David Weiss, the lead U.S. attorney on the Hunter Biden investigation, sent a letter to Sen. Lindsey Graham disputing whistleblower claims he had requested special counsel status. Two IRS whistleblowers alleged the Department of Justice blocked Weiss from filing charges in the jurisdiction of his choice and his request for special counsel status was denied. Weiss claimed he had not requested special counsel status but had talked with DOJ officials about the separate designation of special attorney.
Former president Donald trump is fuming as Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds is refusing to endorse a republican presidential candidate.
The republican gov was even seen attending a DeSantis event as she claims to remain neutral. Trump responded on his social media platform Truth social saying he “ENDORSED her, did big Rallies,” and now he doesn't invite her to events.
Despite a slight drop, Trump is still leading DeSantis in their home state of Florida. According to the main street Florida poll, Trump is at 50% and DeSantis at 30%.
And Biden was caught breaking royal protocol while visiting King Charles in England. The president was seen placing his hand on the Kings back. It is against British royal protocol to touch members of the royal family unless contact is initiated by a royal family member. Biden was also seen walking in front of the king during the inspection of the Guard. Though the palace responded saying King Charles was comfortable with both of the minor infractions. Trump made the same mistake when visiting the Queen back in 2018. This is the first visit to England for the president since skipping the coronation and comes before he heads to the NATO summit in Lithuania.

Even as mosquito populations are on the rise, public health experts suggest that the cases of malaria found in both Texas and Florida may not be cause for widespread panic.
"I feel confident we have had a good public health response," said Andrea Berry, an infectious disease expert from the University of Maryland, in an interview with the Washington Examiner. "This is alarm bells for the public health workers. It's not alarm bells for people."
