Drug suspect jumps out of plane to escape police

A suspect accused of multiple drug charges attempted to flee authorities Sunday by leaping from a Sun Country Airlines flight onto the tarmac at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

Police said 44-year-old Jeremiah Hoskins jumped from Flight 346, which was arriving from Orlando, after he discovered that officers were waiting to apprehend him outside the plane, according to a report.

He opened the emergency exit door at about 11:15 p.m. while other passengers exited the aircraft, the report said.

Hoskins evaded authorities but was spotted as he ran toward the airport's No. 2 terminal.

Roughly a half-hour after leaping from the plane, he was arrested while hiding inside a food service, airport authorities said.

The suspect's arrival had been made aware to airport police due to his being wanted on drug charges in Wright County, Minnesota.

He had a prior arrest for third-degree controlled substance charges and was arrested Sunday on trespassing charges and for violating a restraining order, according to the report.
