The White House bristled Wednesday at questions about the IRS whistleblower hearing investigating alleged preferential treatment Hunter Biden received during his federal tax investigation.
Internal Revenue Service whistleblower Joseph Ziegler testified Wednesday that the president's son received preferential treatment and that investigators were "blocked" from pursuing certain avenues allegedly leading back to President Joe Biden himself.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre fielded a question on the topic during Wednesday's press briefing about whether or not the allegations should be believed. She reiterated that neither Biden nor the White House interfered in the investigation and stated that the president instead is focused on lowering costs for families.
"On this case, let's not forget, this has been led by a Trump-appointed U.S. attorney. Let's not forget that. And the president has said, we have said, he has not been involved," Jean-Pierre stated. "Looking at what the president is doing today, he is going to focus on how he can continue to do the work for the American people. How we can continue to lower costs, how we can continue taking on big corporations that are price gouging the American people."
"That's going to be his focus. That's what he is going to continue to focus on. Let's not forget that in the midterms that was the focus that Republicans said that they wanted to do," she continued. "Their message during the midterms was how do we lower costs for the American people. It doesn't seem like that is their focus now."
