Gallagher will remain the network’s chief breaking news correspondent despite the new gig.

“It’s an honor to lead Fox News @ Night, and I look forward to breaking down the major headlines for our audience across the country every evening,” Gallagher said.

“When it comes to breaking news coverage, Trace Gallagher is one of the best in the business, and having a seasoned journalist at the helm of this hour ensures our viewers unrivaled 24/7 news coverage," Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott said.

Gallagher is one of the original members of the network, joining Fox News at its 1996 launch. The reporting veteran has spent the last 26 years covering some of the biggest breaking news stories.

Last month, the network named Bream as the new anchor of Fox News Sunday, which was once hosted by Chris Wallace, who is now at CNN.

"It has been an honor to cover major news throughout Washington over the last 15 years at Fox News,” Bream said in a statement at the time. “I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to host a Sunday show and look forward to this new role.”
