Biden doubles down on campaign ad featuring Marjorie Taylor Greene, jokingly touts her endorsement

President Joe Biden joked that he had Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's (R-GA) endorsement as his campaign ad featuring her increased in views.

Biden visited Philadelphia on Thursday to commemorate the construction of a ship that will have the capability to install and repair offshore wind turbines. During his visit, he referenced his campaign video, which used comments made by Greene, initially meant derogatorily, but flipped to appear as complimentary, to tout his administration's accomplishments. The president bungled his punchline as he set up his joke.

“As you may have seen, apparently 40 million people watched, Marjorie Taylor Greene, the very conservative gentlelady from the state of Georgia, said Biden is doing things like Roosevelt. And, it goes down the line, and created these jobs and he thinks that — I thought that was, I never had an endorsement from her before,” Biden said.

Greene is in the process of attempting to impeach the president. However, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) introduced a privileged resolution to force a vote on impeaching Biden on high crimes and misdemeanors last month, undercutting Greene's impeachment, which included the same accusations. Boebert's motion was filed within a resolution to investigate the conduct of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, delaying an impeachment vote.

“Joe Biden had the largest public investment in social infrastructure and environmental programs, that is actually finishing what FDR started, that LBJ expanded on, and Joe Biden is attempting to complete,” Greene said in a speech at Turning Point USA, which was later featured in Biden's video. “Programs to address education, medical care, urban problems, rural poverty, transportation, Medicare, Medicaid, labor unions, and he still is working on it."

"This is really what Joe Biden approves," Greene would later tweet in response, with a longer version of her speech which included: "Joe Biden is attempting to complete socialism. Meanwhile we are now $32 trillion in debt, with record high homelessness, 40-year record inflation."

Biden is facing off against Democratic opponents environmental lawyer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and author Marianne Williamson in his reelection campaign for 2024. There are a dozen Republican candidates running for their party's nomination to oppose Biden.
