Vaccination

Ice Cube tells Tucker Carlson he never trusted the science behind vaccine

Rapper Ice Cube told Tucker Carlson he never trusted the science behind the COVID-19 vaccine.

"I'm not real good with direct orders," the 54-year-old said about refusing to get the vaccine, according to a video posted to Twitter Tuesday.

HOW BAD WOULD A UPS STRIKE BE FOR THE ECONOMY?

"It wasn't ready. It was [a] six-month, you know, kind of rush job, and I didn't feel safe."

"But, they told you you were safe?" Carlson questioned the artist.

"I know what they said," Ice Cube responded. "I heard them loud and clear, but it's not their decision. There's no repercussions if they're wrong, but I get all the repercussions if they're wrong."

His decision to reject the order to get the "jab" was not a tough call, he added.

"I wanted to be an example for my kids," Ice Cube said. "You know, really make sure they wouldn't take it either. Show them that I want to stand on my convictions and that I was willing to lose $9 million and more because we've probably lost more since then."

That $9 million loss was the result of Ice Cube's refusal to get vaccinated for a part in Sony's Oh Hell No in 2020.

The artist was attacked for his decision and publicly mocked on national television and Saturday Night Live.

"I never told anyone not to get vaccinated, publicly," he said. "That was never my message to the world. I didn't even want people to know whether I got vaccinated or not."

"I was pretty upset that that even came out because I was just going to quietly not take it and deal with the consequences as they came."

Carlson asked Ice Cube if he knew anyone injured by the vaccine.

"I do, and they suffer every day," the artist replied. "It's hard to watch."

"Suffering in silence is not the answer all the time," he told Carlson. "Sometimes you gotta let people know what's going on so you can actually move the needle. Choose to be vocal."

"If it's true, why can't I say it?"
