Food stamps: August SNAP payment worth up to $2,113 to arrive in Illinois in five days

Illinois recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will collect their maximum payment of $2,113 in five days.

Approximately 1.98 million people in Illinois receive food stamps, amounting to 16% of the population. The average payment per household member per month is $189.

While food stamps are sent on the same days every month, specific arrival dates will depend on an eligible household's Social Security number, case number, account number, or last name.

In Illinois, payments are sent from Aug. 1 to Aug. 10. Older cases are sent on Aug. 1 but continue until Aug. 20.

A household of one that qualifies for SNAP benefits can receive up to $281, a household of six can get up to $1,339, and a household of 10 can receive a maximum payment of $2,113. For households with over 10 people, an additional $211 is included for each person.

To receive SNAP, Illinoisans must meet citizenship criteria for the state. They must be a citizen of the United States or have qualified immigrant status for five years or more. Immigrants who have not lived in the U.S. for five years may also qualify for benefits if they are pregnant, children, or noncitizen adults with serious medical conditions.
