Jason Aldean's "Try That In A Small Town" has been edited to remove television footage of the Black Lives Matter riots from 2020.
Reports that Aldean's song had been edited were first stated on Wednesday evening, with approximately six seconds from FOX 5 Atlanta edited out of the music video. It comes after "Try That In A Small Town" was removed from Country Music Television's rotation, leading to the song gaining newfound popularity.

The production company working on the song's music video had asked FOX on May 8 if it could have permission to use the six seconds of footage, to which FOX asked for more information, including about the lyrics of the song. While the production company sent FOX a link to the song, the protocol was to send the lyrics in writing, which never happened, according to a report by TMZ.
As a result, FOX contacted the production company and asked them to remove the footage to avoid any legal action.
The edited video now simply shows Aldean singing, rather than showing the protest footage.
In the wake of Aldean's song getting removed from CMT's rotation, the song has received a surge in popularity, making it on the trending lists of iTunes, YouTube, and Amazon. On Friday, Aldean said that over the past week, he "saw country music fans rally like I’ve never seen before" and that "it was pretty bad*ss."
