Nikki Haley slams Chris Christie for being 'obsessively anti-Trump'

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley slammed fellow GOP presidential candidate Chris Christie for being "obsessively anti-Trump."

The former South Carolina governor took issue with how the onetime New Jersey governor heavily discusses former President Donald Trump rather than policies while speaking with Fox News.

"I’m not obsessively anti-Trump like he is. I talk about policies," Haley told the outlet.

She also provided a contrast to Trump on policies, stating her differing opinions on matter such as the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, the war in Ukraine, and spending.

"There are times where we’ve disagreed with Trump. He thought Jan. 6 was a beautiful day. I said it was a terrible day. He went on a spending binge as president. I’ve said our kids are not going to forgive us if we don’t take on this debt and call out Republicans and Democrats in the process," Haley said.

"He thinks Ukraine doesn’t need to be messed with. I know that a win for Russia is a win for China, and we’ve got to make sure Ukraine finishes this. We don’t have to put cash. We don’t have to put troops. But we need to work with our alliances to make it happen," she added.

Christie has branded himself within the Republican primary as a Trump antagonist, trading jabs with the former president on social media as recently as Wednesday.

Both Haley and Christie trail former President Donald Trump significantly in the polls, per the RealClearPolitics polling average. Trump leads with 52.4%, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has 18.4%, Haley is in fifth with 3.7%, and Christie is in seventh with 2.3%.

Despite being far behind in national polling, Haley appears to have some momentum in the early primary state of South Carolina, where a recent Fox Business poll showed her in second place, ahead of DeSantis but behind Trump.
