Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) said the House of Representatives could be moving in the direction of impeaching Attorney General Merrick Garland "at a pretty quick pace," following testimony from two IRS whistleblowers before the House Oversight Committee.
Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, appeared on Fox News's Sunday Morning Futures to review the revelations from IRS agents Gary Shapley and Joe Ziegler. Host Maria Baritomo asked Jordan if he would impeach Garland based on his takeaways from the hearing. Jordan said it is up to the full conference of the House GOP.

"I will tell you this the speaker has been very clear, Speaker McCarthy has said if we have to go to an impeachment inquiry, we will, in fact, do that. It sure looks like now, based on the evidence that keeps piling up, based on what Sen. Grassley released this week, the 10-23 form, what we heard from the whistleblowers this past week, and the conflicting statements from the justice department, it sure looks like we’re moving in that direction at a pretty quick pace."
Garland has said that he was not involved in the investigation into President Joe Biden's son in which Hunter Biden submitted a guilty plea to two misdemeanor counts of willful failure to pay income taxes and agreed to a diversion program to have his gun charge dismissed. Instead, he insisted U.S. Attorney David Weiss had full authority, according to Garland.
Jordan claimed he wrote Garland in February regarding a potential special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden, but did not receive a response the first time, even though receiving one is typical.
"I write him again, the attorney general, again, he doesn’t respond, but guess who does?" Jordan said. "David Weiss, the U.S. attorney in Delaware who’s supposedly handling the case. That in and of itself is unusual."

Later on in the segment, Jordan alluded that the investigation into Hunter Biden "could be more about the president himself" and implied an impending impeachment of Joe Biden. However, he said House Oversight Chair Rep. James Comer (R-KY) would have to finish his investigation, and then Congress would "see where we'll go from there," said Jordan.
Garland is slated to appear before the House Judiciary Committee in September.
