Two separate northeast Nebraska plane crashes under investigation, one confirmed dead

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol responded to two separate small plane crashes that occurred Monday morning in Knox County and Wayne County.

Troopers, first responders and Knox County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a plane crash four miles southwest of Crofton, Nebraska, at 9:30 a.m. The pilot, the lone occupant of the plane, died at the scene. Authorities are working to notify the pilot’s family.

The second plane crash happened a short time later near Wayne, Nebraska. Details will be released by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office at a later time.

NSP said local officials are in contact with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) regarding both incidents.
