Two separate northeast Nebraska plane crashes result in fatalities, report says

The pilot killed in a small plane crash in Knox County on Monday has been identified.

CROFTON, Neb. (KOLN) - Two small plane crashes that occurred Monday morning in Knox and Wayne counties resulted in fatalities, according to an FAA report.

The first crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. about four miles southwest of Crofton. Nebraska State Patrol troopers, first responders, and Knox County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene, where the pilot and sole occupant of the plane, Joseph Rudloff, 73, of Norfolk, was pronounced dead.

A report on the FAA’s website shows another fatal plane crash occurred in Wayne County Monday morning, but the pilot has not been identified. According to registry information from the FAA, the plane that crashed near Wayne was owned a man from Elk River, MN.

Troopers deployed drones to survey both crash scenes as part of the ongoing investigations. The National Transportation Safety Board has been contacted and will investigate both crashes.
