Digital Desk: Healthier 901 Fest

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Healthier 901 Fest returns on Saturday, Aug. 31.

The festival will be at Shelby Farms Park starting at 10:00 a.m.

Healthier 901 Fest is for everyone, of any age and any mobility level.

Local celebrity chefs will prepare meals while discussing which ingredients to use and how to cook specific foods to enhance their nutritional worth.

The Cigna Healthcare Wellness in Motion mobile clinic will also be present and offering free health screenings to anyone who is 18 and older.

Healthier 901, sponsored by Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, is addressing two major health challenges in the Memphis area: heart disease and cancer, by encouraging our community to live a healthy, active lifestyle.

The objective is to drop one million pounds since obesity increases the risk of heart disease and cancer, and Memphis is one of the country’s heaviest cities.

Cigna Healthcare was an early adopter of Healthier 901 and joins Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, Nike, Kroger, Action News 5, and the YMCA as supporters of the initiative.
