Command Master Chief Petty Officer Terrance Wright, a native of Miami, Florida, began his military career in 2001 when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Upon completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he reported to Gunner’s Mate “A” School, graduating in December 2001.  

He rose through the ranks serving aboard USS Shoup (DDG 86), USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81), USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), and as Senior Enlisted Leader at Naval Underwater Warfare Center Keyport before being selected to serve as the Command Master Chief of USS Barry (DDG 52).

His shore assignments include service as the Anti-Terrorism Team Lead Instructor for Afloat Training Command Western Pacific in Yokosuka, Japan; on the Surface Forces Atlantic and Naval Surface Squadron Staff as Force Gunner for Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville, Florida; and most recently as a Faculty Advisor at the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy.  

He has completed six shipboard deployments to the Western Pacific and U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, disaster relief operations in Indonesia and counter-piracy operations in and around the Horn of Africa. He also served on numerous deployments in support of U.S. 7th Fleet forward deployed forces. 

CMDCM Wright currently serves as the Command Master Chief of USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71).

He is a graduate of Brandman University with a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership with honors, University of Maryland with a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice with honors, a graduate CMC/COB Class 22050, the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 233 Brown Group, and the U.S. Air Force Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Academy Class 2015-D Flight-12.  

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (seven awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), and various other personal and unit awards.
