Granted, I've never had him try to drive it on the ceiling, but as easily as it drives up my walls, it probably would be able to go onto the ceiling!     This is a fun one to get for kids who have good control with a controller. Controller is small enough for kids age 6 and up. I did not even use the instruction and made it work. I just had to buy batteries for this. Hopefully this last long time. Not sure about durability, the product itself it not great material just plastic, so it is light enough to work against gravity.
