5.0 out of 5 starsThanks to a critical review by Chris Richards - I am a new fan of Taylor Swift

I am not super into pop music so I only had a shallow view of Taylor Swift's songs. I've heard some, they sound good but I haven't gotten into her music. I was listening to news stories on my Washington Post app, when I heard a rather bitchy review of Taylor Swift's new album by Chris Richards. He complained that his phone died after song 19. Sorry, Chris - It isn't Taylor Swift's fault you didn't plug in your phone before listening to a 31-track album. He trashed her lyrics, suggested that she should be writing about the sadness involved with her superstardom (which, I feel, she did - so he's missing something or I am) and complained that she "...remains mercilessly prolific and unwilling to edit for length..." Does he think fans don't like hearing a large number of new songs by artists they love? The annoyance of the reviewer was clear and I became curious if it was warranted.
This is the first Taylor Swift album I have listened to and I loved it. The songs are great, I enjoyed her lyrics and found her vocals to be heartfelt. I was compelled to listen a second, third and fourth time. I bought the MP3s and am happy to add this album to my collection. I am looking forward to listening to more of her catalogue.
A big thank you to Chris Richards and his critical review. Without it, I don't know that I would have heard an album that I now love.
