Scientists create world's first 'synthetic' embryos

For the first time, a team of stem cell researchers in Israel have created mouse embryos in the lab without using any eggs or sperm and watched them grow outside the womb. The successful experiment will help our understanding of organ development in embryos and could have applications in fertility and organ transplants.
