Pittsfield: Library offers drop-in genealogy assistance

The Berkshire Athenaeum, Pittsfield's public library, announces drop-in genealogy assistance from 9:30 a.m. to noon Thursdays.

Genealogist and researcher Sandi Jarvis will be available in the Local History Department to assist with family history. Individuals who need guidance on how to get started as well as those whose have hit a dead end in tracing their family tree are invited to stop in.

The Athenaeum provides free in-library access to Ancestry, the premier online genealogy resource.

Additional sources include files and indices provided by the Berkshire Family History Association and historic maps, city directories, and local high school yearbooks.
