Stockbridge: Children’s Chime Tower slates final concert

The Stockbridge Chime Tower will close its 2024 season with a final concert for children and families from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2. The chime tower is located in front of the old Town Hall and First Congregational Church, 4 Main St.

Arrive at 5:20 p.m. for requests and children’s signup for one last chance to play the chimes. Picnics and play on the lawn are encouraged.

After 140 years, the tower had to close in 2017 due to structural upgrading and now has been fully restored. The town has sponsored the traditional playing of the newly restored Children’s Chime Bell Tower from 5:30 to 6 p.m. every day this year from May 25 to Labor Day.

Conductor and music educator Andrea Goodman, director of the Cantilena Chamber Choir, oversaw the project. Information: satbchoir@yahoo.com.
