Most people consider summer June/ July- and August. They have an event mid - September which technically is summer. The website says up to September 2, but also mentions a Halloween event which would be in October. So sorry the question was November and no they are closed then.

Not knowing the age of kids you will be with but having an 8 yr old and 12 yr old myself, I can say that it is very kid friendly. There is a large space for them to run and explore. The walking trails are 1.5 miles at most (I think) and are beautiful walks for them to ramble. Of course any ranch room that is staged as part of the living history cannot be touched or played with as is usual but I will say the docents present were patient and kind and very conversational with our boys. They are happy you are there. If the animals are out that will be a bonus for littles. Logistically speaking, the bathrooms are centrally locates and clean. The food was well priced with large sized portions and kid-friendly. Try it!
Q:
Is this family open during the winter? They only talk about yours and suck through October on their web page.
A:
No they are not open in the winter. It is replica of the town with most of their activities outdoors. Sorry.
Q:
Are there any special events in October?
A:
You would have to contact them directly I was just there for 8 Days. And enjoyed it a great deal Hope it helps
Q:
Is it a good place for a picnic? Can we eat lunch anywhere on the property?
A:
We have an area dedicated for eating with picnic tables and benches under cover. This is the best place for a picnic.
