The Patriots are waiving running backs Kevin Harris and Terrell Jennings on Tuesday as they trim their 90-man roster down to 53 players.

Harris is the biggest surprise cut of the day. The 2022 sixth-round pick, who has played in nine career games, scored two of the Patriots’ four preseason touchdowns.

The 23-year-old ball carrier has 34 career carries for 117 yards with two touchdowns and three receptions for 58 yards in two seasons. This preseason, he rushed for 37 yards with a touchdown on 12 carries. He also caught two passes on four targets for 24 yards with a touchdown reception from rookie quarterback Drake Maye.

Jennings, an undrafted free agent out of Florida A&M, averaged 6.2 yards per carry this preseason with a team-high 74 rushing yards on 12 carries. He caught three passes on four targets for 23 yards.

The Patriots also released running back DeShaun Fenwick on Monday. The moves leave Jerod Mayo’s roster with Rhamondre Stevenson, Antonio Gibson and JaMycal Hasty at running back.
